New Friends and New Adventures
New friends and new adventures - Senior Living Apartments
Maxine Sommer recalls being a little hesitant leaving her home for a smaller living arrangement. With her husband deceased, and the kids off raising their own families, Maxine realized, "My house is just too big." A friend of her daughter-in-law mentioned People Inc.'s Living Apartments and that she should apply. Needless to say, a year later Maxine's hesitation to live in Daffodil Apartments in Amherst is no longer a concern. "I love it here, everyone is so friendly...there is always something going on all the time for us to do, and Danielle the manager is the most wonderful person I have ever met," says Maxine.
Danielle Bush is the manager at Daffodil Apartments and makes sure Maxine and her fellow tenants feel welcome, safe, and enjoy themselves. Danielle stated, "This is a wonderful service we offer - affordable housing along with additional activities." Maxine has lived at Daffodil since it opened in July of 2004, and she has made many friends. She enjoys the fact that you don't have to go out if you don't want to, but there are opportunities to go many places if you like. Maxine is very active and plays cards with her friends. In addition, there are numerous outings to the movies, shopping, and plays. When asked what she loves most about Daffodil, Maxine replied, "The cost...it's a lot cheaper than having the responsibility of a house with the repairs, yard work, and size." The fact that she is an Amherst native and lives only a few miles away from her two daughters is another luxury. According to Maxine, "I can still drive, but on days I can't, I take advantage of the transportation to and from grocery stores, group activities, and community events." Maxine, at 86 years of age, is certainly making new friends and taking some great new adventures.
