iCan Shine - Get Involved!

LTTW logos

Do you love the feeling of riding a bike? Learning to ride a two-wheeler is a rite of passage, but many people with disabilities may not realize. The iCan Shine Bike Camp is changing that! People Inc., Down Syndrome Parents Group of WNY, Heritage Centers, Developmental Disabilities Alliance of Western New York (DDAWNY) and Univera Healthcare have partnered to provide individuals with disabilities with this opportunity. The program will take place June 24-28, 2013, at Cheektowaga High School.

The goal of iCan Shine, formerly Lose the Training Wheels, bike camp is to teach individuals with disabilities to ride a conventional two wheel bicycle and become lifelong independent riders. This achievement, in turn, creates a gateway of opportunity, helping them gain assurance and self-reliance in many other aspects of their lives.
