“Ivan the Invacarnival” Kid’s Day Event at Museum of disABILITY History on August 10
The Museum of disABILITY History will host “Ivan the Invacarnival,” a Kid’s Day event on Saturday, August 10, 2013, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at 3826 Main Street in Buffalo. The event will feature the Ivan the Invacar Book series!
The family-friendly event will include a variety of activities throughout the day, including: reading of the Ivan the Invacar children’s book series, 11 a.m.‐11:45 a.m.; presentation about living with Cerebral Palsy, 11:45 a.m.‐12:15 p.m.; Kids on the Block puppet show, 12:15 p.m.-1 p.m.; and showing of the movie “Dolphin Tale” with free popcorn, 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Additionally, kids will have the chance to get their photo taken inside the real Invacar, explore the Museum of disABILITY History and participate in a scavenger hunt and coloring contest with prizes! Plus, free pizza!
A special sale will be offered during the event with 25 percent off all Ivan merchandise, which includes books, stuffed animals and a wooden Invacar toy. Event admission: adults: $5; seniors, students with ID and human service employees: $2.50; children 6‐17: $2 and family package: $12. Volunteer at the Museum of disABILITY History!
Are you looking for a fun and interesting activity to participate in during your spare time? Do you have a passion for education and history that you would like to share with the community? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, then please consider a volunteer position at the Museum of disABILITY History in Buffalo – the only “brick and mortar” museum of its kind in the United States!
The Museum of disABILITY History is seeking volunteers for a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to: working at special events, preparing bulk mailings, working at the front desk and Museum Store and helping with research and collection projects. The best part is: you control your own schedule! You may volunteer as little as once or twice per year or you may prefer working as often as weekly or monthly.
