Rotary Club Donates
Polio Vaccinations

Members of the Buffalo Rotary Club recently were inspired by a presentation by Dave Mack-Hardiman, People Inc. and Museum of disABILITY History associate vice president. He provided an overview about the Museum of disABILITY History, as well as its exhibits and publications. Motivated by the Museum’s initiatives and traveling exhibit on polio, members of the club donated 30 polio vaccinations for children to PolioPlus, the Rotary Club’s international campaign to rid the world of polio.
Polio is a highly infectious viral disease that can cause paralysis, which is often permanent. The disease mainly affects young children and there is no cure – it can only be prevented by immunization. Over the years, Rotarians have helped to immunize more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries. Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders and problem solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad.
