People Inc. is gearing up again for our annual Drive Fore Disabilities Golf Tournament to be held at East Aurora Country Club on August 22, 2011. This year marks our 10th anniversary for the event as well as our 40th anniversary for the agency so there are sure to be lots of festivities in recognition of these milestones. As in the past, the format will be four man best ball scramble with your choice of an early round teeing off at 7:30 a.m. or the afternoon round which will start at 12:30 p.m.

Ways to Support
If you are not a golfer, there are still ways to support our upcoming tournament! Tee signs offer great exposure to everyone on the course and gift basket donations are always welcome for our auction. We are also currently looking for a special sponsor to help us with a donation of airline tickets. Please contact Sarah Snyder at 716.817.7269 or ssnyder@people-inc.org for more details.

2010 Audited Financials show Lean Organization
People Inc.’s Board Audit Committee led a detailed review of the audited financial statements in June. Another ‘unqualified opinion’ (clean audit, best rating) with no Management Letter issues, and for another straight year, a very lean administrative percentage. The auditors compare People Inc. financials against other similar rehabilitation organizations regionally and throughout the State, and People Inc. shows a high level of efficiency with over 93 cents of every dollar put to program use. See attached chart for actual slide from Powerpoint presentation.

Anniversary gift from Miller Marquart
Local company Miller Marquart Lumber marked its one year anniversary with a grand re-opening and generous donation to the People Inc. Foundation. After 50 years in operation, the former R.A. Miller Lumber in North Tonawanda was purchased and reopened in May 2010 by Thomas Marquart and Thomas Trathen, bringing back many of the original employees. Familiar with People Inc.’s mission from a long-time employee with a son served by the agency, owners included an auction and raffle in the celebration, as well as making a company gift. “We know People Inc. does important work and it means a lot to our team members. Miller Marquart was happy to help support your mission this way” said Trathen.
