People Inc. Day Program Participants Honor Others at Forest Lawn Cemetery
People Inc.’s Day Program participants continued their service project this past June at Forest Lawn Cemetery. They placed 296 pots of flowers on graves at Forest Lawn to honor and remember orphans, the destitute and the aged. Throughout the summer, they will return to Forest Lawn to water and care for the flowers. Check out the People Inc. video.

Sharing Museum of disABILITY History News with Kennedy FamilyAt an event recently hosted by New York State Senator Timothy M. Kennedy at the Buffalo Irish Center, Kevin Horrigan, People Inc. Public Affairs director, had the opportunity to meet Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy. State Senator Kennedy brought Ms. Kennedy to Buffalo to recognize and honor her for her leadership with human rights issues. During Kevin and Kerry’s discussion, he had the opportunity to share with her about People Inc.’s Museum of disABILITY History and the Museum’s traveling exhibit, “The Kennedy Connection.”

Golf Anyone? Morning Round Spaces Available!The People Inc. 12th Annual Drive Fore Disabilities Golf Tournament is Monday, August 19, 2013, and will again be held at East Aurora Country Club. We have brought back our Early Bird Morning Round to accommodate those who might not have a full day to attend our event. You can expect a nice quick round of golf but are welcome to come back for the dinner program as well. Both rounds will follow a four man best ball scramble format with a shot-gun start. The early round will tee off at 7:30 a.m. and the afternoon round will tee off at 12:30 p.m. As always, snacks and beverages will be regularly offered throughout the course for your enjoyment!

Troop 2128 of People Inc. Elmwood Day Hab Celebrates Memorial Day Troop 2128 of the People Inc. Elmwood Day Hab celebrated Memorial Day with a special observance. Over 20 scouts marched in formation to honor the fallen warriors, past and present during the ceremony.
Scout Master Dominick Liggio, a former People Inc. employee and now volunteer, began a Scout troop over eight years ago at Elmwood Day Hab through a grant and support of People Inc. Scoutmaster Liggio states, “This Scout troop is the only 100 percent individual participatory troop that serves the community in disaster relief and beautification projects like today to honor our fallen soldiers.” The once empty landscape in the rear pick up and drop off area has been transformed into a memorial of flags, windmills, walk path, flowers and bunting, “ all in Red, White and Blue!” states Scout George O’Donnell of troop 2128. George is a participant and Scout that helped work on the garden. Scout George said, “I feel good remembering our soldiers.”
Each member of Troop 2128 placed wreaths of roses in the garden as they all received medallions for their service. As the Scouts, families, staff and participants gave a salute, Mathew Iwanski of People Inc.’s Training Department, played “Taps” as the ceremony concluded. |
